Renewing your BAS Agent registration

To continue providing BAS services for a fee or other reward legally, you must apply to renew your registration before it expires.

 

As long as you lodge your application for renewal before your registration expires, you will remain registered as a BAS agent until the TPB notifies  you of the outcome of your application.

To renew your registration as an individual, partnership or company BAS agent, use the Online registration renewal form at Agent login.

 

When you initially registered as a BAS Agent, you would have either registered as a Standard BAS Agent or as a Transitional BAS Agent.

STANDARD BAS AGENT REGISTRATION RENEWAL

For all BAS agents (individual, partnership, company)

  

¨      Statement/s of relevant experience demonstrating required amount of experience*

 

For partnership and company BAS agents only

 

¨      Complete a Schedule of personal details for all directors and partners who are not registered as individual agents to demonstrate to the Board that they continue to meet the fit and proper person requirement.

 

 *Unless the applicant’s experience has been gained while self-employed, this form should be completed by the applicant’s employer or supervising tax agent or supervising BAS agent.

 

TRANSITIONAL BAS AGENT REGISTRATION RENEWAL

If you registered as a BAS agent using the transitional option, you need to renew your registration by reading the information and following the steps below.

 

Requirements for an individual

 

For a standard individual BAS agent registration, you must:

  1. be at least 18 years of age and be a fit and proper person
  2. satisfy the education requirements 
  3. meet relevant experience requirements 
  4. apply by completing the online application form 
  5. pay the application fee.

 

Requirements for a partnership

 

For a standard partnership BAS agent registration, the partnership must meet the following requirements:

  1. each partner who is an individual must be at least 18 years of age and be a fit and proper person 
  2. the partnership must have a sufficient number of registered individuals to provide BAS services to a competent standard and to carry out supervisory arrangements 
  3. complete the online application form 
  4. pay the application fee.

If a company is a partner:

  • each director of the company must be a fit and proper person 
  • the company must not be under external administration, and 
  • the company must not have been convicted of a serious taxation offence or an offence involving fraud or dishonesty during the previous five years.

 

Requirements for a company

 

For a standard company BAS agent registration, the company must meet the following requirements:

  1. each director of the company must be a fit and proper person 
  2. the company must not be under external administration 
  3. the company must not have been convicted of a serious taxation offence or an offence involving fraud or dishonesty during the previous five years, and
  4. the company must have a sufficient number of registered individuals to provide BAS services to a competent standard and to carry out supervisory arrangements 
  5. complete the online application form 
  6. pay the application fee..

 

APPLICATION FEES

The application fees to renew your BAS agent application are:

 

$100 – for registration as a BAS agent who carries on a business 
$50 – for registration as a BAS agent who does not carry on a business.

 

The TPB will not process your application until your application fee has been paid in full. You can make the payment before you submit your application and note the receipt number on it. 

 

The registration period for an agent is generally three years.
