Membership Structure & Levels

Applicants may apply for membership into one of the following categories depending on their qualifications and experience:

 

 

 

Student

Anyone enrolled in a Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting) or (Bookkeeping) course or higher at TAFE, registered training organisation (RTO) or private provider.

 

Student members must advance to either Affiliate or Member levels (depending on work experience) upon successful completion of studies. The move will enable us to recognize your career status and provide more focussed support and services appropriate to specific membership level. 

Affiliate

This level of membership is applicable for applicants who are making transitional arrangements to provide full BAS Agent services. To qualify for Affiliate membership level applicants should have achieved:

  • Graduate of the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting) or (Bookkeeping) or higher, with no bookkeeping experience; or
  • 2 years of work experience in providing bookkeeping/BAS Agent services without formal qualifications.

Affiliate members should advance to Member level once they are eligible to do so. The move will enable us to provide more focussed support and services appropriate to specific membership level.

Member (AAT)

The Member level has minimum entry requirements of:

  • Holders of recognised qualifications such as Graduate of the Certificate IV in Financial Services (Accounting) or (Bookkeeping)or higher; and
  • Significant work experience in providing bookkeeping/BAS Agent services (atleast 1 year).

Fellow (AATF)

The Fellow level has entry requirements of:

  • Five years at Member status; and
  • Minimum five years experience in a senior/supervisory position (to be determined by AAT Australia at its discretion) or
    Significant contribution to the Bookkeeping/BAS Agent industry.

 

Public Practice Member (PPM)

Public Practice Membership (PPM) recognizes your status as a professional bookkeeper with extensive experience and formal qualifications.
